OVERVIEW

Luang Prabang, the cultural capital of Laos, located on the confluence of the Nam Ou and the Mekong River, lures travellers with its distinctive colonial architecture, charming downtown streets and glittering pagodas. Saffron clad monks replace vehicles in this timeless, atmospheric city, as they often scurry the small streets. Witness life on the water while cruising along the Mekong River and take a walk through villages untouched by time. A trip to the top of Mount Phousi offers astonishing views over Luang Prabang. Immerse yourself in a land deeply tied to tradition and enchanted by the gentle Laos people.

ITINERARY

Essential Laos - 4 Days / 3 Nights

ADHVAN representative will receive you at Luang Prabang airport and transfer to the hotel.

Check-in & relax.

Luang Prabang – the country’s charming city, with its laidback riverside ambience, and alluring monuments.

In the evening stroll around the former Laos capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of gracious temples and French Colonial architecture.

Visit and explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textile made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Overnight will be in Luang Prabang.

Have breakfast at the hotel.

Start for guided Elephant Village camp visit.

Reach the camp and you will be welcomed by the camp manager and participate in a short briefing about elephants. Enjoy the impressive experience of bareback elephant ride.

Also ride in a traditional Lao long boat to the Tad Sae Waterfall and relax or swim in the clear water (swim suit recommended!)

Enjoy buffet lunch will be served with coffee / tea and drinking water (vegetarian options are available) at Elephant Camp restaurant.

Later proceed for a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture.

Also visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai.

After visiting these sights, you have free time to explore the town and stroll around the shopping area.

Overnight will be in Luang Prabang.

Embark on a cruise along the Mekong River, about two hours upstream from the centre of Luang Prabang, which gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as explore the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims.

Pak Ou (mouth of the Ou river) includes the Tham Ting (lower cave) and the Tham Theung (upper cave) are caves overlooking the founder name Mekong River. They are a group of caves on the right side of the Mekong River.

Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xang Hai, where they make the local rice wine LauLao (Lao whisky) and LauHai (Lao wine).

Later visit Phosi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.

Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will take soft trek to visit the Ban OuayHmong Hill tribe and Ban Ou, Lowland Lao.

Continue driving to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest trails.

Also visit the Bear Rescue Centre which relies solely on partners, corporate sponsors and donations from the visitors. Buying T shirt or other merchandise is recommended to fund this preservation.

Return to the old town to observe the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath.

Overnight will be in Luang Prabang.

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession.

Have breakfast at the hotel.

Proceed for the visit of The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through to the last sovereign.

Later climb the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River.

As per your flight timings, you will be transferred to the airport to take flight back home / onward destination with pleasant memories of Luang Prabang tour.
